The perfect one for this job, the Nvidia 3060 Ti was sold out everywhere. The hardest part of building the PC in the sweet month of August 2021 was dealing with the worldwide GPU shortage. If I had to redo it, I would buy a ThinkPad and use an external GPU or use a KVM monitor such as the BenQ PD2720U or the GigaByte M27Q.įinding a GPU, an adventure in the adventure before the adventure USB is a mess and Thunderbolt motherboards either don't support video or have stability issues. Disillusioned, I ended up with a freeze free ASRock Z590 Phantom Gaming-ITX/TB4 with no support for pass-through.Īt this point, I don't know what to do with desktop machines. One of the ports was Dead on Arrival and I never managed to make the pass-through work. I tried something beefier, the MSI Z590I ITX, advertised as a dual Thunderbolt-4 with Display Port pass-through video. I was never able to figure it out and RMAed it. Updating the BIOS and all the drivers, using the exact RAM parts number found on the QVL, switching RAM, using only one RAM, monitoring temperatures of chipset, CPUs and GPUs, and even enabling/disabling innumerable poorly documented mobo settings. The worse nightmare of a PC builder surfaced with random freezes. The Beautiful Machine was working well with an ASRock Phantom Gaming ITX TB-3 so I tried the same setup. I found it much more optimized for playing Diablo II Resurrected than playing it via the Lutris Blizzard mentioned above, especially in some scenes that have many light effects. The workbench turned out to be a sound idea. Lutris has finally released Diablo II Resurrected. Then the game starts without any problem with Lutris on Linux. To enable playing Diablo II Resurrected with Lutris, we simply just have to change the DXVK version from v1.9.1L to the latest v1.9.2L. To install Lutris and Blizzard on Lutris, please refer to my previous blog post “Ubuntu Gaming Guide”. By configuring the Lutris Wine settings, we could play Diablo II Resurrected without having to install the vkd3d-proton patch. I found that probably the patch mentioned above has been integrated to the latest version of vkd3d-proton. On September 23rd 2021, Blizzard Diablo II Resurrected was officially released. To play the Diablo II Resurrected with the Lutris Blizzard on Linux, the user would have to install a vkd3d-proton patch. In August 2021, Blizzard Diablo II Resurrected Open Beta kicked off.
